The Week In Review

Well this week Ian started sleeping (almost) through the night. Going to sleep around 7-8PM he wasn't waking up until 3-4AM giving Kara (and me) a decent amount of sleep. He still would get fussy some nights and you might have to start at 6PM to get him to sleep at 8PM but overall it's been a nice change for the better. Not much else going on this week to report. I got my wisdom teeth removed, which is quite uncomfortable and unpleasant, but not much baby news. Kara went to work on Thursday so she's slowly getting used to going to back. She missed Ian terribly though so it might be harder than she thought. And today we finally signed off to have the basement bathroom redone and the guest room finished. So hopefully visitors in August (and definitely in Sept) will find a nicely adorned guest room in the basement along with a brand new fancy bathroom.

Ian's First Big Trip

Well Kara and Ian are back from their trip to Minnesota. Ian was very well behaved on the flight there and back --despite the return flight being delayed 2 hours. Our nanny (who just started) Monica helped get Ian ready for the trip and drove Kara and Ian to and from the airport. While in MN Ian met his uncle Eric and aunt Jane as well as his cousins Alec, Jonah and Kira Rose. Jane and Kara's parents were very helpful getting Ian to go to sleep and comforting him (which helped Kara to sleep enormously). Amy and Nani came by and visited. Amy wrote down the story of Ian's birth in a notebook for us to keep for the future. Kara and Ian visited Kira Rose's school to celebrate her birthday--and Kara and Kira Rose sat at a special private table for lunch. And everywhere Kara and Ian went people reportedly oohed and aahed over his special Quinny Zapp travel stroller (Dutch engineering!). Ian and Kara have another big trip down to New Orleans for Kara's job later this month and grandparents Bert and Judy will be going down as well to help babysit.
